NAG TIBBA TREK
This is a probably the finest weekend trek in the country. The starting point of the trek and the finishing point are easily accessible and very close to Dehradun, which in turn is very well connected with other parts of the country. So close, yet one can reach an altitude of more than 3000 mts and hike in an absolutely remote region with almost no habitation. Another great attraction of this trip would be the camping experience. There are beautiful meadows and thick jungles along the trail offering numerous scenic camping locations. Also this helps in customizing the itinerary for people, basis of fitness levels.
The climbing gradient while going up is moderate with a few steep patches in between making this trek suitable for all including enterprising and moderately adventurous families. At Nag Tibba Top you will have the whole place to yourself with just an odd Gujjar/shephard sharing the magnificent views with you. The panorama of the Himalayan snow peaks of Garhwal and Himachal region is sure to keep you busy with the camera. Some of the famous peaks that are visible from here include the Bundar Poonch, Swargarohini, Srikanth and Black peak.
This is a circular trek where the finish point is different from the start point and at no time there is an overlap of trail. On your way down you will go through a completely contrasting landscape having a dense mixed forest of oak, rhododendron, cider & pine. Adding to the beauty of the trek is the opportunity to visit a couple of quaint villages which are extremely scenically situated amidst thick Deodar forests. Icing on the top would surely be the opportunity to dunk one's feet into a cold and inviting stream at the end of the trek.
