Situated on the east side (left) of Pindar valley, below the famous peak Nandakot and to the southeast of Nanda Devi peak, the glacier gives rise to the river Kafni which is a tributary of river Pinder which is in turn a tributary of river Alaknanda and which is one of the two head streams of the mighty river Ganga. Conditions permitting tourists can trek right up to the snout of the glacier.

The main Himalayan summits visible from the glacier are Nandakot (6860 m) and Nandbhnar (6236 m). The approximately 90 Km round trip through spectacular scenery and beautiful campsites make up for a special and rewarding trekking holiday.
