CHANDRASHILA SUMMIT TREK
This is a beautiful trek, with difficulty level rated as easy to moderate. The trek passes through forests and vast meadows, and offers excellent views of snow clad Himalayas.
We start from Ukhimath, and pass through Deoria tal, Chopta and Tungnath to reach the summit of Chandrashila for an amazing view of the Himalayas. Maximum altitude reached would be around 3950 at the summit of Chandrashila.
The region is a protected sanctuary for musk deer, and is rich in flora and fauna. Our first camp at Deoria tal is near a pristine lake ringed with forest. The view of Chaukhamba peaks is one of the most prominent in the entire journey. We would be further camping in the meadows of Chopta, and then at Tungnath. Each camp site would offer excellent views to the Himalayan peaks.
Tungnath is famous for the highest temple which is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Beyond Tungnath there is a small summit called Chandrashila which is a very beautiful vantage point to experience Himalayas in a wide spectrum. One would see the entire range in almost a 270 degrees of visibility, with peaks like Chaukhamba, Kedarnath, Nanda devi and Trishul among the most prominent ones.
Day 01: Rishikesh - Siyal Saur R 6-7 Hours Overnight Camp:
After breakfast drive to Siyal saur.The entire drive today is along the Ganga, Alaknanda, and Mandakini river. We stop at Devparyag,the historical town situated on the banks of Bhagirathi and Alaknanda river to see the confluence .later we stop at Rudraparyag for lunch. After lunch we drive through the Mandakini valley along the river. Arrive Siyal saur(840mt)and camp. Later you can walk around the villages around the camp area. Meals and overnight camp.
Day 02: Siyal Saur - Ukhimath - Deoriyatal 1 Hour Drive 4-5 Hours Trek Overnight Camp:
Early morning after break fast 1 hour drive to Okhimath (1370 mts/4500 ft), Okhimath is the winter seat of Lord Kedarnath, as well as the winter home of the priest who presides over his worship. After the Kedarnath temple closes for the winter, a movable image of Kedarnath is brought in procession to Okhimath, where it resides until the Kedarnath temple reopens in late April or early May. Visit temple and trek to Deoriya tal(2360mt). Initiaiiy the trek goes through the village trail giving you a chance to have a close encounter with the settlement pattern, dress jwellery and life style of mountain people, Latter the trek goes through the thick forest , one the last stretch we come close to the tree line to reach the lake. Enjoy the outstanding view of great Himalayan peaks in the lake, Meals and overnight stay in camp.
Day 03: Deoriyatal - Chopta 5-6 Hours Trek Overnight Camp - (2700 mts):
In the morning enjoy the sun rise and you can see snow clapped Himalayan ranges. After breakfast start your trek to Chopta through dense forest of Rhododendron and lots of wild flowers and ferns. The trek will take 5- 6 hrs to reach Chopta. Upon arrival at Chopta set out the tents & explore the area for overnight stay. Meals and overnight stay in camp.
Day 04:Chopta - Chandrasilla - Chopta 6-7 Hours Trek:
In the morning after breakfast trek to Lord Tungnath. The entire trek is a gradual ascent through the dwarf Rhododendron bushes. One encounters Mt.Chukhamba (A mountain with four pillars) from different angles. Arrive Tungnath (3650mt) the highest Hindu pillgrimisetemple in the Himalayas. Those who are fit enough can climb up toChandrasilla (4200 mt). Arrive Chandrasilla and enjoy the 360 degree of panoramic view of Greater Himalayan peaks as wall as the valley behind. Experience the godly vibrationas and trek back to Chopta. Meals and overnight stay camp.
Day 05: Chopta - Talli - Rishikesh Drive 6-7 Hours:
After an early breakfast trek down to Talli, The entire trek today goes through the thick forest and chances of encountering rare Himalayan flora are very high Enjoy the rare species of Himalayan birds in the forest. Later drive to Rishikesh, Arrive Rishikesh and tour terminates upon arrival at Rishikesh. Trip End
